For the Twins

These cards are digital images from Mami Doodles.  They are so cute, so like my twin great nephews.  Colored with copics.  The background stamp is embossed, the stamp is from Chapel Road.  The die-cut glitter stickers are from Dollarama.  DP & other embellishments from my stash.

My niece and her husband live in California, so do not see them too often.  I am always surprised when I see their children, how much they have changed and grown.  The last time they were here one of the twin boys sang several songs for us, told us he would let us know when to clap.  He was very entertaining - good voice and lots of descriptive hand gestures.

Rainy Day

This card is for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #103 (MMSC103.  The digi reminds me of my grandaughter Kelsey.  The sweet digi is from Mami Doodles colored with copics.  Used lots of colors of  card stock & dp from my stash.  And the embellishments are from Dollarama.

Rained all day here and supposed to rain all week.  Guess there will be no golf tomorrow, so hubby has suggested we go to Fallsview Casino tomorrow - good place to go on a rainy day.

Bird Song

This little bird card is for my niece and also for the CDAC Midnight Madness 102 Challenge.  The digital image colored with copics is from Heart Song Designs.  The dark cs is from Double Mates and the dp is from K & Company.  The greeting is a stamp from Chapel Road Artstamps.

Went to my daughters a week ago to help her pack for a move.  Came home for two days and then we were called back, baby decided he was ready to be born.  They had the last load on the truck when she went to the hospital.  When we arrived there, The main floor was set up, beds made, dishes in the cupboards and the living room was decorated, none of this had been done before she left.  The girls from her ball team had come over and looked after that while the guys were finishing the unloading of the truck.  We stayed and looked after grandchildren while mother was in hospital.  She was there for three days and then we helped around the house with meals, picking up kids from school, shopping, and washing etc. Baby Boy Colton Alister Scott Weese 6lb.1oz. We came home Saturday night.
Went golfing this morning for the first time this season.  The weather was beautiful, but, my score was ugly.

The Golden Birds

Don't you just love the birds an image from Priscilla Styles, CDAC.  I have painted them with Yasutomo metalic watercolors.  The cage is a die cut from Marianne design.  The DP is from K&Company.  White cardstock was put in a cuttlebug folder and through my Wizard. A layer of gold cardstock on a white card. The center cutout was made using Spellbinders Scalloped Circle.

Tomorrow is card day at my house, so I have been busy making a casserol , salad, and a cake for our lunch.
There will be eight of us and we are celebrating two birthdays.  The above card will be for one of them.
I was suppose to golf early this morning, but too wet and cold.  It turned out to be a nice day, but rained later in the afternoon.  We were visiting friends in the afternoon and did manage to sit out on their back deck for about an hour before it rained.  After cards tomorrow we are going to my daughters and staying overnight.  We will help her pack some of the smaller things, she will be moving on Saturday, we will be home then, the younger ones can help with the heavy things.

Sweet Peas

Sweet Peas a very pretty digi from Priscilla Styles CDAC which I  have chosen to enter into the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge MMSC100.    My card is almost a duplicate of the Fancy sketch.  I have colored the digi with copics.  I used a cuttlebug folder for the lavender background.  The turquoise DP is Dizzy Dots from Lasting Impressions.  The sentiment is a sticker colored with copics.  The ribbon from Michaels. A Fun   card to make. A great image for spring.

Golden Flower

This card is for the CDAC Midnight Madness Challenge. The sketch challenge was fairly easy to follow this week, though I think this one falls into the plain category. I will be giving this card to one of my fellow card players, her bithday is at the end of the month.  The Flower stamp is from Penny Black and the Butterfly stamp is from Stamp Barn. I colored the stamp with markers.  Brushed a small amount of yellow and orange Distress Ink around the flower.  The navy background paper is from Graphic 45.

Have been having computer problems so have not been posting this past week.  I had to get a new camera and the program would not load to my computer - so for the present time am working on my husbands.  Will be away for a few days, so hopefully I can do some catching up when we get back.

Pump with flowers

The top image is my card using the bottom photo as a guide for colors.  The flowers in the wonderful old pail is a free image from Bev Code, Bee Cee Artistic Digital Images which we can use in this challenge.  I have colored the image with pencil crayons.  I used a corner punch from Carla Craft, usually the string would show all around the 4 edges of the card, but I had not left enough room, so I just added the yellow string to the corners.  The dark brown designer paper is from Stemma,- Damask a Scrap pad kit.  The ribbon is from Micheals.  The metal butterfly and colored cardstock from my supplies.

Basket of Flowers

CDAC Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge MMSC96 as pictured above Plain or fancy.  My card leans more toward the fancy.  The beautiful Basket of Flowers image is from Karens Doodles.  The chipboard pieces are from K&Company, Brenda Walton.  The flowers have beads glued in the centers and
all the cardstock and the rhinestones are from my supplies.  The border punch is from Martha Stewart.  This was a fun card to make, but had to keep making my card larger to fit in all the extra pieces.  I don't think this is the best photo I have ever taken, the beads don't show too well.  Will have to work on this.

Think I will stay inside and do some sewing later today.  It is still very cold outside though it is a sunny day. We still have about 4 or 5 inches of snow on the ground.  Suppose to be getting some warmer weather in a few days.  Looking forward to some golf  soon. Our one group has their opening on the 11th of April.

Fancy Dress Fairy

This card is to be entered into the CDAC Embellishment Challenge.  The challenge is to use this free digi from Inktegrity or use one purchased from their blog.  The embellishments are to be buttons (at least three).  I have colored the image with copics.  The Designer Cardstock is from DCWV Nana's Kids with glitter.  I used a zig emboss pen to apply the glitter, it goes on blue, but is suppose to be clear.  When I put the white glitter on it the blue color must have been absorbed into the glitter - thus the blue tinge on the wings.  The buttons I chose to use are small fairies, I cut the shank off the back of them and colored two of them with copics.  I used my EK Success punch for the lattice work down the right side.  I think one of my grandaughters will enjoy receiving this card.

The weather is sure cold here, snowed on Wednesday, and it was windy, a real nasty day.  But it did not keep us home from cards on Thursday, two others went in my car to our friends house.  She lives in the country with a long lane. It's about a 40 minute drive to her house.  Not a great drive on the way, but with the sun out the roads were clear when we came home.  Still busy with curling, we are getting into our finals now.  Our competetive team is in the semi finals on Friday and on Tuesday I am in the finals for our Carousel Series - you play on a different team every week.

In the Kitchen

I usually go from one extreme or another either very bright, or all pastels.  Thought this image from Bugaboo should be in bright colors.  These images are so much fun - hope the recipient enjoys it as much as I do.
Again, it is going to one of my golfing friends for her birthday - soon we will be out on the links.  The DP is from DCWV a pad called Nana's Kids.  The image is colored with copics.  The picture looks crooked because I put a piece of red cardstock behind it when I took the photo. There really is just a l/4" red border all around the edge.

I have been fighting with my computer for the last few days, first my browser (Firefox)  told me to upgrade to their latest program. Every time I went out of my browser, I had to reboot my computer to get back in.  I had to make a few changes to even see my blog. (What a waste of time!)  I like to use google and couldn't get it, and quite a few other minor problems. I finally got most of that cleared up.  Then last night during the night Windows decided to upgrade my Vista - the result was that when I went on the computer it was like a brand new computer, nothing on it, no pictures, no mail, no documents, nothing.  Thank goodness for the restore program, I was able to restore everything to the time of day before the upgrade was made.

Maybe my computer is trying to tell me I should get rid of some excess I have on this computer and make a back-up disk.

Rainy Days

Ever since I got this image from Nana Vic I wanted to use it with this designer paper, but didn't quite know how.  This weeks Midnight Madness sketch challenge is for the front of the card to be divided into two parts.
I chose to do the simple design as there wasn't room for too many embellishments on my card.  The top of the card is DP from Jillibean - Egg Drop Soup.  The large green umberella is in two layers and I have popped up the second one and also an additional pop up in the centre. These don't show in this picture it still looks like one layer.   The lower portion of the card is this sweet digital image from Nana Vic.  I have colored it with copics.

Was going to post this card this morning before we went out for the day, but wouldn't you know it my camera's batteries gave out after I had taken the photo, but before I had uploaded it to my computer.

I thought that we were to have some warmer weather, but did see lots of snowflakes on our drive home from Niagara Falls tonight.  Don't think it should amount to too much though.

Butterflies are always Beautiful

This card is for the Sketch Challenge at CDAC.  The beautiful butterfly image is from Sue, McMahon Five Designs.  The digi is colored with copics and Gelly Roll Pen.  Glitter, Sky Blue & Gun Metal.  DP for the background is from Stamping Up and the Swirls are from a Paper Passport pad by Provo Craft.  Pearls from Dollarama colored with copic marker.

Tonight we start daylight saving time so our clocks are set an hour ahead to-night so hopefully we can sleep in for an extra hour tomorrow morning.

Purple Lanterns

This card is for the CDAC Color Challenge.  The wonderful purple lantern digi is from Crafty Ann's. The colors we were to use were pink, purple and lilac.   I used Purple Glitter Glue from Gary M. Burlin to decorate the lanterns.  The oriental lady stamp is from Sparkle & Sprinkle.  I think she is very pretty, I like the flowers and other decorations in her hair. Used copics to color her.   Gems and DP are from my stash.

Having a very quiet day to-day.  The rain has stopped a few days of it was enough. The creek that runs behind our townhouse is running very fast, I am glad that there are high walls to keep it enclosed.   Curled on Friday and we won - Yea!

Other Theme Challenge CDAC

This was a fun digi to work with.  It is from Design 2 Delight Digital Stamps.  The challenge was to use 2 or more patterned papers on the card.  I used three patterns from Colorbok.  Colored the image with copics.
The greeting is from Chapel Road Artstamps colored with orange copic.  Kept all the colors very bright.

We still have snow on the ground and very cold.  Managed to do some sewing yesterday, got out my serger and sewed around the edges of four receiving blankets.  Took me as long to thread the machine, (used four different colors,) as it did to do the sewing. They did look nice when they were done.  I'm off to curling in an hour so had better go get ready.

Getting Old

A birthday card for one of my golfing friends.  A very funny digi from Bugaboo Stamps.  The image was colored with copics.  Papers from DCWV.

Went out for dinner last night at the Southwest Grill, about two blocks from where we live.  After dinner, we went to the show, saw True Grit which is rated as a 4 star movie.  It certainly was nothing like the old movie True Grit.  Looked like everyone came out of the theater shaking their heads about what they had just seen.

Happy Anniversary Card

This sweet image from Karens Doodles is for the Midnight Madness Challenge MMSC93.  It is also an Anniversary Card for a relative.  All papers from my stash, colored with copics, pearls from Dollarama,
and greeting from Starform Stickers.  Lots of paper placement on this challenge!

Been a busy week with curling, cards and company.  It rained here the last two days, but this morning we woke up with about 4 to 5 inches of snow covering the ground.  Nice and bright outside, but I will be glad when spring comes.

Bunny for a Baby

This cute little bunny is a digi from Priscilla Styles, CDAC.  I am going to enter this card into the Midnight Madness contest, Priscillas group, CDAC.  Although it could be used for Easter, I am going to use it to welcome a new baby.
Background paper is from Deja Views "Sharon Ann" Collection.  The yellow dp which was cut with a Spellbinders Nestabilities die is from K&Company, Seasonal Paper.  The bunny was colored with Pencil Crayons.  The Blue wiggly stickers were from Frances Meyer, and the feet embellishment and the Rhinestones were from my stash.

We have a few inches of snow, but it going to rain to-morrow so the snow will soon be gone.  My daughter gave me about half an hours notice that she and three children were going to stop by for dinner -  Thank goodness Chinese take-out is very close by.  It was a good evening, a no stress meal and so great to see the kids.  They didn't stay too late, they still had a 2 hour drive home.

Humming Bird

Love this swirling hummingbird.  It's an Inkadinkado rubber stamp from Hero Arts.  The inner circle cut with Coluzzle and the outer scalloped circle with Spellbinders Nestabilities.  The DP, Flowers, and silk butterflies are from my stash.  The Rhinestones are from Melissa Frances, Vintage Attic Treasures.  Made for a friend in my card group, but she was under the weather with a bad hip so was not at our card day on Thursday, but hopefully will be out next Thursday.

I thought with the snow storm that was forecast for this morning that I would be staying home, but the weather forecasters were wrong again and it did not amount to much.  Just a few inches of snow which had mostly melted by noon.  I curled to-day but sad to say we lost.  We had a good time and a great gab fest over coffee afterwards.

Luck of the Irish

I entered this card in the Sketch Challenge for CDAC hosted by Deedees Digis.  I used the freebie provided by the store.  I followed the sketch just as it was.  Using paper that I had on hand and coloring the wonderful pot of clover with copics.  Trying to match the snail with something I used mauve copic and mauve cardstock at the bottom.  A fun card to make as my husband's birthday is on St.Patrick's Day.

Flower Girl

This is a card I did for the CDAC Embellishment Challenge - you had to use rhinestones and lace and a digital image provided for the challenge or one from the hostesses store.  I used the free image from VN Digital Art and colored her with copics, pink cardstock from Micheals, white cardstock put through the cuttle bug folder, lace from fabricland and rhinestones from my stash.  Keeping the card plain and simple.  A card I will be able to use for one of my grandaughter's birthdays.

Valentine Cards

I don't make or send Valentine Cards myself, even though I had quite a few stamps and paper to do so.

Last year my grandaughter decided that she would like to make cards for her class, this was early in the evening and she was leaving our house the next day about noon to go home.  I got out valentine papers, stamps, inks, and embellishments.  We decided that a triangular piece of paper on either side of the front of the card, a stamped and coloured image on the other side of the front and some embellishments would work.  On the inside we stamped Happy Valentines Day.  My daughter Cheryl went to bed before Rachel and I had finished working on the cards.  Cheryl was doing some stamping  and Rachel was coloring and putting the embellishments on where we thought they were needed.  We finally finished about 1:30 in the a.m., but we had 28 cards ready to go.

The top pictures are samples of some of the finished cards.  The bottom is Cheryl and Rachel proud of their handiwork from the night before.  I sent most of the stamps and lots of paper and and embellishments home with them.

Black Bear

I have been away from my blog for quite some time.  I have been busy with other things, curling, sewing, and have been trying to get over a sinus infection.  But I am feeling better now and must get back on track.

This is not a very good photo of my card, the glare is caused by the shiny cardstock.  The background is done with alcohol inks. The bear is a rubber stamp from Art Impressions embossed in black.  The tree is a stamp from Stampers Anonymous (Tim Holtz), stamped with Library Green Archival Ink.  The card was for one of my grandsons.

Pretty Bird

This card is for the CDAC Color Challenge this week.  The digi image is from Happi Scrappin Doodles - Leigh Grady.   The bird & flowers are colored with copics.  The background cardstock is from Bisous Zoo, the flower and other papers are from my stash.  This was fun to color and to add the embelishments - pink pearls and white rings of pearls to the flowers.
Went out last night for dinner with my husband and was surprised with another fairly heavy snowfall.  Roads were not too bad when we drove home - but we did have more overnight.  We are so lucky we moved last year to a complex where the road, your driveway and even your front porch and walks are cleared for you.

Figure Skater

The Midnight Madness Challenge for this week at CDAC is based on these two sketches.  I chose to do the plain one this week turning it on its side.  For this card  I used a digi from Gingerloft - by Tami.  I used a black Starform sticker inside the edge of the Oval.  Sticky paper, lace and two colors of glitter, black and white.  The punch is from EK Success.  The papers from my stash.
This card is for my 9 year old grandaughter who competed at the weekend , she earned two medals a gold  a bronze and a fourth place finish.

Cards for Men

Always find it hard to design cards for men but enjoyed doing this one  The horse at the top is a stamp from Stamping-Up.
The horses at the bottom are from a Dreamweaver stencil and I used a dark brown paste.  It does appear to be black here. Some dark brown DP and brown brads and it is complete.

Had a great day to-day.  A new Day Ladies curling series started to-day - I got to play with a new team.
It was a good game, we kept alternating getting 1 point each end.  But in the final end we made 5 points to win the game.  This series goes until the end of March and you are on a different team each week, I play lead.
This is my third year to play.  At the end of the series the 10 best skips, vices, seconds and leads will be in teams and  play against each other to become the winners of the series.
Tonight we are waiting for  a  snow storm to descend on us.  We have not had more than a few inches of snow so far this winter.  If we get as much as they say we are to get, we will be staying home to-morrow.

Valentine Turtle

This is my card for the challenge.  The turtle is a digi from Priscilla Styles, CDAC, colored with copics.  The DP are from K&Company.  The lace is from Fabricland .  The rhinestone stickers are from Recollections       and the ribbon from Michaels.

Up Up and Away

The card above is a birthday card for my son.  The large balloon is a stencil from Dreamweavers.  I used white paste in the stencil and then colored it with markers afterward.  The background is from a magazine and the sentiment stamp is from Micheals.

The Pink Butterfly

This card is to be entered into the Midnight Madness Challenge this week.  The digi butterfly is from Priscilla Styles of CDAC.  The small butterflies were created using a tonic punch.  The sparkly background paper is from DCWV and the other papers, flowers and pearls are from my stash.  It is a sketch challenge as pictured above.

Girl with Kitty

This is a 3D Die Cut picture Stanzbogen - Christine Haworth Designs.  The frame is a sticker from a large sheet. I had removed the packaging and don't know where it is from.  The little girls do like to receive these cards.  They think they are very special because of the 3-d image when finished.  Very quick and I think very pretty card.  Two of my grandaughters were here with us this weekend.  It is very quiet here when they leave.  Because it was so cold outside they spent a lot of time doing crafts and playing on our computers.  (Barbie Games)

An altered card

This card is one that I did for the Midnight Madness sketch challenge.  The card with a turtle on it was a digi from Priscilla Styles.  The papers were from K&Company, The embroidered lace from Fabricland and the rhinestone stickers from Recollections.  After I had entered it into the challenge I needed a card for one of my good friends who was turning 80 and my grandaughter wanted the turtle so she could give it to a friend.  So I removed the turtle and added a digi from Jodie at Bugaboo Stamps. Her name is Stella (the digi) and totally suits my friend.  Liked that the card was so fancy.

I was a challenge winner!

I have recently joined CDAC a crafters digital art center.  I entered one of my cards into their Midnight Madness Challenges.  (One of many challenges on their site.)  and won their Gold Star Award for the card shown above  It was a sketch challenge which I followed quite closely.  The butterfly image is a digi from Pricilla Styles of CDAC.  I embossed the image in gold on a transparency and layered it over a cardstock image which I had colored with pencil crayons.  The background paper is from Graphic 45 and the gold paper, flowers and brads are from the dollar store.  The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Chapel Road Art Stamps embossed in white.
